Was he really called that?”
You’ve heard the expression when someone mentions a name and you can’t quite believe that his or her parents thought it might be a good idea to call that someone with a name so strange. Well, some years ago a work colleague of mine made it his business to amuse both of us by pointing out unusual names he had come across and I told him that when I had the time, it would be a great idea to do some drawings based on the collection of names he and I compiled.
I’ve had the time and I’ve done some of the drawings, not all of them as there are a lot of names to choose from. I’ve had a lot of fun doing the drawings and thinking of the sort of lives people with apt names might have. Robin Banks is no doubt a policeman, but I’ve not done him, yet.
Quite a number of them will be in the Exhibition in August, and I’ll post a few up here for your amusement. In time there will be prints available of some of them. I hope you enjoy them! And thanks Derek for such a good idea, at least I think it’s a good idea.
